howto Reconfigure Project Server for change in TFS Server name ?


tfs project server  integration configuration appears ok – settings verified running tfsadmin projectserver following switches:

  • /getregisteredpwa
  • /getmappedcollections
  • /getmappedprojects
  • /getmappedworkitemtypes
  • /downloadfieldmappings

note: tfs server renamed after pwa registered before collection mapped.

however when try verify data synchronization, ms project client, nothing seems happening:

  • i've opened published enterprise project pwa uri
  • in gantt chart view, i've added 2 columns: "publish team project" , "work item type (tfs)" – (should 2nd column have drop down support? – first does)
  • i pick task , "publish team project" select "yes" , "work item type (tfs)" type "task" (definitely mapped work item type)
  • i select file > info > publish (i select "do not create site @ time" - do need create site?) – press publish – see "publish completed successfully" in status bar @ bottom.

in tfs, task work item is not showing up.

  • tfsadmin projectserver /getsyncmessages not showing messages
  • the event log not showing error messages.

i running project 2010 version 14.0.6123.5001 (32 bit) on same machine running visual studio 2010 sp1.

is team foundation add-in detecting project plan mapped plan?  not see view called team foundation gantt (project server).

how can data synchronization working ?

how can troubleshoot issue ?



so if tfs server renamed, is there config setting on project server side point new tfs uri ???

when open enterprise project project 2010, message in tray says trying verify tfs connectivity, , messagebox pops up 

team foundation services not available server http://xyz:8080/tfs 

it appears project server pointing old tfs server name!

if edit hosts file on client , point old tfs host name ip address, works!

however dont want every client or modify tfs, how update pwa point new tfs domain name ?

Admin Permissions
