i downloaded sl 1.0 beta sdk little while ago , got bit of idea technology, don't know go next. is there kind of recommended reading list getting grips sl?  hoping find decent book amazon doesn't seem have single book yet, unpublished far isn't suprising. guess i'm particularly interested in linking sl asp.net pages, rather making pretty web-page interactive content. i'm learning asp.net (well cross-training jsp). so,  best resources out there? as side question, published author of technology articles , wondered if there's opening articles on sl once i'm speed? i'm talking professional, paid writing rather hosting "how 2 make silver light on ur pages" tutorial. i'd love write technical book 1 day... oh, , when 1.1 start being used in industry? worth skipping 1.0 altogether , focusing attention on 1.1, or 1.0 -> 1.1 easy transition make? thankyou advice.  start msdn documentation here .  overviews , reference

i have standard elastic database pool 100 edtu.  the dtu max database set 100. my understanding pool has maximum of 100 dtus shared among 7 databases have in pool. when @ elastic databases chart, see 1 database has peak edtu of 100.   however, when view individual database last week, it's dtu never went above 65% utilization. if dtu max 100 shouldn't see 100% utilization @ point during last week when viewing database's dtu usage? there couple things may cause issue. first, database table in elastic pools shows metrics databases over last 2 weeks. chart looking @ individual database showing last week. can change timeframe of database chart last 2 weeks , see if data matches then. if doesn't resolve inconsistency, thing cause data granularity. database table in elastic pools is based on data 15 second granularity, whereas individual database chart based on data 5 minute granularity. cause slight differences in observed peak dtu usage.

i have sql 2000 server database taking 75gb of space.  55gb of in 1 table heap 3 non-clustered indexes on it.  can't change because a vendor maintained database, , makes unsupported.  have shown vendor creating clustered index reduces table down 500mb roughly.  there 1 other table without clustered index taking majority of remaining space.  in each case, creating clustered index, reduces table size, hands pretty tied on this.   my question is, else can fix problem?  vendor isn't moving on issue, again, person pays cost of backups , san disk space database.  @ $100+ per gb in our san this waste of resources aggrivates me.   anyone have ideas?  have rebuilt of non-clustered indexes no avail.  tempted try drop create on of them tonight after hours find out if helps any.  can done? hi jonathan,   it sounds heap has grown 55 gb @ 1 point, , lot of rows have been deleted, taking down 500 mb.  sql server delete unallocated pages heap when delete given tablock hint (at le

i have sqlcmd variable defined in project , reference variable in pre-build event. for example: if i use build event command line of call $(projectdir)createcommand.bat $(projectdir) 022 predeployment where 022 represents custom software version number command works expected. however, if try reference the sqlcmd variable of $(majorversion)   which has default set 022 in call $(projectdir)createcommand.bat $(projectdir) $(majorversion) predeployment it doesn't work. can see upon build $(majorversion) being evaluated empty string. any ideas? why push envelope when can open it? hi jason, you can't use sqlcmd variables in pre build events. sqlcmd variables intended used @ deployment time string macro gets executed. if you're using msbuild in conjunction ssdt you'd able around having task execute before dacpac gets built.  SQL Server

i have 3 maintenance plans inplace one backup our 3 production databases, master, model, msdb, 1 backup log files of our production databases , 1 optimize our production databases.  backup plans set delete old backup 3 or more days old when plans first put place worked correctly.  lately (month or 2), backup plans have not been working correctly. when first noticed problem,  1.  saw the drive i'm putting backups on out of space , 2 delete part of backup not deleting backups more 3 days old.  when deleted old backups, plans worked normal until hd became full again. i have 2 questions. 1.  when "delete" part of plan work before or after "backup" part. 2.  if "delete" after "backup" operation, if hd filled how plan react. david - 1.  can set plan steps in order, default delete comes @ end. suggest leave remove steps after backups, safety. 2.  if delete step in-line after backup, not fire if backup fails due lack of space. may y

hi, we have 2 instances of tfs 2012 on 2 different servers, server1 , server2 simplicity. server1 new installation of tfs2012 , few agile projects created under defaultcollection collection, no projects brought instance, created straight scratch. server hosts tfs2012 build agent. server2 new installation of tfs2012, however, on server collection , projects created using upgrade method move projects tfs2008 directly tfs2012 (no tfs2010 in between). http://server2:8080/tfs/testupgrade  is main url upgraded collection. now, test listing projects in collection, i'm using small console application, difference url provided project names from. below main logic on how i'm fetching project names. main results when use http://server1:8080/tfs/ url project names from, have no errors logic below , works fine. if use http://server2:8080/tfs / url, logic when using configurationserver method displays project names. second method, using tfsteamprojectcollection, throws error in
