Is a domain required for TFS?

i know workgroup edition not require having domain, after grow past workgroup size? various reasons we're not running domain , aren't soon, we'd move using tfs. possible?

hi,

the word "workgroup" has been overloaded has lead confusion. "workgroup edition" 5 user limited version of tfs, can run using active directory authentication or windows workgroup authentication.

any version of tfs (workgroup, trial, or full) can use either active directory or windows workgroup authentication. see following msdn article running tfs against workgroup authentication:-

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms252507.aspx

so no - domain not required.  if purchase full version of tfs can carry on using workgroup authentication rid of 5-user limit on users comes "workgroup edition"...

i know it's confusing - we've complained many times don't think marketing folks read newsgroups :-)
