New setup fails regarding missing STS_Config_TFS database

this everything-on-one-machine type of install.  semi-unusual bit there sql server 2005 standard installed , it's supposed hosting database(s).  i've got prerequisites done satisfaction of "system health check", still fails following: "the required windows sharepoint services configuration database (sts_config_tfs) not located on team foundation server data-tier computer. proceed, must exit setup , uninstall windows sharepoint services. then, reinstall windows sharepoint services in accordance team foundation installation guide, , run setup again.".

the install guide doesn't mention sts_config_tfs database, assumed it's expecting name of sharepoint configuration database, reinstalled sharepoint database name.  didn't work.

so, um, do?  i've reached limits of documentation...

ryan,

you correct, tfs expects sharepoint configuration database called sts_config_tfs.  reason isn't mentioned in documentation tfs doesn't expect customer create database.

if in installation guide (on-line current) see steps install sharepoint, , pretty minimal.  in short, install bits , tfs setup provision sharepoint correctly.  can provision there number of items need configured correctly.  since willing reinstall wss suggest approach outlined in documentation.
