SQL Server - using an instance of a database offline

i have scenario want able access database @ times. if not in office hosted sql server is, want local version available on laptop when not connected. when return office, want version of laptop sync hosted database. thinking database mirroring, wanted hear other options on scenario.

the reason want off-line version internet not available, , therefore system cannot used. if local version available, , data added, efficient.

is possible achieve? , if yes, best approach available me?

sql server replication have been looking into, have sql server 2016 developer edition on 1 machine , sql server 2016 express on laptop

additional information:

  • i not 1 accessing database. (only 10 users or require access), , limited 5 tables only.
  • i can lock down rows of data staff member on application, should solve issues conflicting modifications.

ok, got it.

mirroring out of question (as other ha/dr features availability groups, failover cluster , log shipping) since database accessible on "primary", loosely speaking.

sorry, speaking hastily (i have dig bit in memory banks):

merge replication tech want into. trigger based , can handle update conflicts (selects winner). believe supports express edition (subscriber) - need verify that.

peer-to-peer required, last time checked enterprise edition. also, no conflict handling. transaction-log based. doubt right tech you.
