SQL Express Install fails Error 29503 / 1067
i have read numerous previous posts on similar errors. far i've ruled out:
1. have athlon processor cache prefetching xp 1700+
2. have tried installing advanced options , selecting local sytem , local service.
none of these solutions solved problem. still same install error , it's quite maddening, since install program verifies of hardware , software meet install conditions. running xp home, i'm in workgroup, not domain.. attach log install below.
any more suggestions?

a helpful tech @ microsoft connect solved problem. posting copy of solution here. see microsoft connect forum sql express more details. note machine part of workgroup , not belong domain. tried install sql express using "advanced options," suggested in other posts, still inadequate solve problem. regedit required...
>most "domain" missing following windows registry >hkey_loocal_machine\system\currentcontrolset\services\tcpip\parameters
>i assume rmachine not joined domain. if that's case, can try creating empty reg_sz value named >"domain" in hkey_local_machine\system\currentcontrolset\services\tcpip\parameters of registry.
>you can follow these steps: (1) open regedit (start|run, type regedit). (2) navigate >hkey_local_machine\system\currentcontrolset\services\tcpip\parameters. (3) right-click parameters. (4) >choose new->string value. (5) type domain name of new value, , hit enter. (6) rerun sql server >setup. please, let know if helped.
