When installing VS 2010 SQL server doesn't install properly

i have tried install visual studio 2010 professional dvd onto freshly installed copy of windows 7 ultimate 64 bit.i logged on account adminstrator , i right clicked , chose "run administrator" on autorun on dvd.  although said it was successful sql server 2008 r2 did not install properly. messages in installation log of kind:

[11/16/10,15:43:28] microsoft sql server 2008 r2 management objects (x64): isetupmanager::getglobalcustomproperty() failed find global prop in cbasecomponent::getglobalcustomproperty()

i got in event viewer 224 copies of error event id 63 text:

a provider, sqlservereventprovider, has been registered in windows management instrumentation namespace root\microsoft\sqlserver\serverevents\sqlexpress use localsystem account. account privileged , provider may cause security violation if not correctly impersonate user requests.

and 2 copies of warning event id 1101 text:

.net runtime optimization service (clr_optimization_v4.0.30319_64) - failed compile: c:\program files (x86)\microsoft sdks\windows\v7.0a\bin\x64\aspnet_merge.exe . error code = 0x800700d8

i had expected asked about services install when got sql server question asked in whole visual studio installation "full or custom installation" , chose full.

i had @ readme notes before starting installation and didn't find anything.  willing reformat drive , start again if know how stop happening again.

all gratefully received,

dani.
