Best practice advise for structuring Team Projects in VSTS

hi,

at risk of asking question has been asked many times before - i'm after current thinking following when using visual studio team services. have seen answers question elsewhere on web answers several years old , think product , opinions have possibly changed since then.

in nutshell: in a small team of 20 working on variety of different project types (mobile, web, data, integration) recommended have multiple team projects in collection or 1 flat 1 area paths create necessary separation of work?

we planning migrate on-prem tfs 2015 vsts. team project collection first created in tfs 2010 6 years ago , broken down 16 team projects our intranet, public web site, mobile app, systems integration solutions, etc. etc. years have found creates more problems solved there lot of code sharing between solutions (for example apis developed in systems integration needed in intranet). also, team set in tfs, under 1 team project deliver new integration , features in our intranet, yet entail development work of new or existing api in systems integration team project - therefore have wis in 1 team project result in changes code , assets in team project - therefore making auditing difficult if not impossible.

a (so far) brief investigation vsts shows of hard , fast boundaries between team projects have been softened , wis can instance moved 1 team project another. there somethings suggest may still want separate team projects such build - i.e. ending 1 massive list of ungrouped build definitions solutions difficult navigate.

another thing doing enbracing nuget sharing pre-built libraries among consuming solutions - beginning reduce pain of code sharing doesn't answer cross-project/cross solution work planning difficulties.

any thoughts, guidance appreciated!
