Operating system error 5(Access is denied.).


hi:

i upgraded windows 7 , reinstalled ms sql server 2008 - developer edition.  user on computer , use development box. 

i administrator on windows , created user account dataadmin when set sql server responsible of things such sql server agent, analysis services etc. - though not entirely sure why did user on box - needed in order system install.

anyway, went restore db , got following error:

cannot open backup device 'c:\users\roger\documents\db_backups\hash30_93324\hdco_93324.bak'. operating system error 5(access denied.).

i tried going security , giving default user account  rbs1\roger of server roles did not work.  in resolving appreciated.

you have go directory listed hash30_93324 , give user 'dataadmin' full control on directory. windows permissions issue in account running sql server not have permissions files in directory.

Admin Permissions
