Unable to refresh PowerPivot data in SharePoint 2010/SQL Server 2012

here goes: upload excel spreadsheet powerpivot table sharepoint 2010.  spreadsheet displays fine until try set filter.  have read every thread find on issue , far none of them seem work.  stunningly difficult problem wouldn't surprised if has wasted million or more man-hours point.  @ least microsoft should publish decent checklist.  anyway based upon have read have identified following trouble spots far.  feel free add them.  have standalone windows 2008r2/sharepoint 2010/sql server 2012/office 2013 system.
starters excel powerpivot app works fine on server outside of sharepoint.

created account (call fred)
    1. domain account
        1a. read permission on active directory
    2. local admin on server
    2a. user rights assigned
        2a1. act part of operating system
        2a2. adjust memory quotas process
        2a3. impersonate client after authentication
        2a4. log on service
    3. sysadmin on sql server (one assume has rights databases)
        for masochists among there seem half-dozen of 20-something databases require @ least read-access if want list them.

    4. farm admin on sharepoint farm - fred

    7. account used unattended powerpivot account - fred
    8. secure store service key - check

based upon either-or configuration, figure there 32 billion permutations account for.  making matters worse recommendation restart service/computer in order see changes work in number of instances.  far have invested few days problem no success see pretty daunting challenge variables mentioned above.

does know of consolidated spreadsheet troubleshooting because simple mind take.

just followup, @ least got excel services run, after finding out ssas database being deleted arbitrarily out there.  gee, guess have never thought of that.

    19. ssas database may disappear @ random - need check

still no powerpivot though.

i think briefly mentioned tokens , want make sure understand... running claims based authentication or of webapps, if powerpivot, tabular, , multidimensional not work, if don't app store not work. when using excel 2013 powerpivot need make sure not using msolap5 , in fact not supported. lot has changed in bi space between 2010 release , 2013 release. tabular , powerpivot architecture different. please me favor perform same exercise excel 2010 client , please let know if works you...
