VS 2010 launch error after installing TFS 2012 build agent on a build machine (no VS 2012 installed)

after installing tfs 2012 build agent on 1 of our machines (no vs 2012), launching vs 2010 gives following error:

the 'microsoft.teamfoundation.client.serviceshostpackage, microsoft.visualstudio.teamfoundation.teamexplorer, version=10.0.0.0, culture=neutral, publickeytoken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' package did not load correctly.

the problem may have been caused configuration change or installation of extension. can more information running application /log parameter on command line, , examining file 'c:\users\[username]\appdata\roaming\microsoft\visualstudio\10.0\activitylog.xml'.

do need re-install vs 2010?

running vs 2010 cmd prompt /log option gives following relevant message:

could not load file or assembly 'microsoft.teamfoundation.client, version=10.0.0.0, culture=neutral, publickeytoken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' or 1 of dependencies. system cannot find file specified.

thanks
