Loading tabular data from cube ; Data Warehouse versus Data Marts

hi,

i've built enterprise data warehouse using multi-dimensional hypercube , mdx.  it works fine, , performs well, supporting raft of ssrs.

the business wants self-service.  well, suppose could wait until i've got powerview on mdx . . . wouldn't address issue of provisioning simple , easy access data structures each business function.

so, i'm thinking of creating number of data marts using bism tabular, , using hypercube dw 1 source of truth.  certainly, since has calculations , kpis in already, not want lose loading data marts underlying relational constellation.

anybody tried , has experiences share?

cheers,

hi donna,

tabular solutions use relational modeling constructs such tables , relationships modeling data, , xvelocity in-memory analytics engine storing , calculating data. multidimensional solution use olap modeling constructs (cubes , dimensions).

tabular models provide data analysis expressions (dax), formula language creating custom calculations. need create calculations , kpi in new tabular model. more information, please see:
calculations (ssas tabular): http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh212939.aspx
kpis (ssas tabular): http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh213008.aspx
