Vanishing Save As Dialog in Management Studio 2008


this felt problem mmc or windows 7, i've tried other mmcs , happens sql server management studio.
under following conditions:
  • run management studio 2008 administrator.
  • connect sql server instance (we're using windows authentication , administrative account has sysadmin privileges in instance).
  • script object new query window (i scripted create , drop user table)
  • run save as...
  • click on tree dropdown @ top of dialog appears.

 

the save dialog vanishes , of ui elements in mdi frame stop responding. 
  • the dialog found.
  • you can things in docked windows (e.g. object explorer), close them, can't edit scripts , can't exit management studio.
  • if try close application through system menu, dialog says "microsoft sql server management studio cannot shut down because modal dialog active."   way close management studio kill using task manager.
  • this not happen if run management studio non-administrator.  can use runas different non-administrative user , problem not appear.  logged desktop administrative account , above steps did not cause problem if didn't elevate "run administrator".

 

we keep windows pretty aggressively patched, , 1 windows update or has cleared problem.   have been 1 of hundreds of updates, in win7 kernel, shell, .net framework, or sql.

SQL server replication error Cannot find the dbo or user defined function........

hi there, i ran problem while deploying sql 2008 transactional replication between 2 servers lets assume server , b. actually created  both distributor , publisher on server , after created subscriber pointed server b, launch replication monitor , found big red cross. when click on tab "distributor subscriber history" error says "cannot find either column "dbo" or user defined-function or aggregate "dbo.ufnleadingzeros", or name ambiguous". can body regarding issue. regards, ishuv hi, you need compare data , others reseved, index size, unused should not compared. differs. here server - data - 87896 kb server b - data - 78152 kb server data size includes publication tables, can't compare directly. need check article article know exact data size.
