SQL Server 2008 Express SP1 won't Upgrade/Uninstall in Windows Server 2008 R2


i have clean copy of windows server 2008 r2 64-bit.  downloaded 2 files microsoft: sql server 2008 express w/ advanced tools (sqlexpradv_x64_enu.exe) & sql server sp1 (sqlserver2008sp1-kb968369-x64-enu.exe).  both of them 64-bit version.  installed basic engine installation , sp1.  both worked fine. 

problem occurs when want add feature, let's full text search.  open sql server installation center , click install & add features link in install submenu did when first installed sql server 2008.  when did that, revived error message says object reference not found.  @ point, decided run sqlexpradv_x64 again same error occured.  @ same time, went uninstall programs in windows 2008.  when clicked uninstalled same object reference not found message appeared.

thinking might bug install, used clean copy of w2008r2 , installed basic engine & full text.  sp1.  both worked fine.  wanted add feature, management studio.   same object reference not found error appeared again sql server installation center install section.  played around, installing , reformatting win server 2008 r2 6 times , each time exact same thing happened. 

means have one-way time limited permanent install.  part, had better know features want installed because after initial installation - cannot upgrade or uninstall anymore.  tried same web platform installer.  installed sql server express w/ sp1 failed in installing management tools after-feature.

have tested in lab.
lab contains 1 computer clean copy of windows server 2008 r2.

installed sql server 2008 express advanced services(sqlexpradv_x64_enu.exe) , sql server 2008 sp1(sqlserver2008sp1-kb968369-x64-enu.exe) on machine.

then, run sqlexpradv_x64_enu.exe open sql server installation center , click install & add features link in install submenu.

did not encounter error.

so, recommended download sql server 2008 express , sql server 2008 sp1 again or sql server 2008 express sp1 , install them.

SQL server replication error Cannot find the dbo or user defined function........
