Problems with setup of SQL Server 2005
was using msde2000
everything worked.
upgraded sql server 2005 express.
now can't start server.
config file:
<
configuration><
system.runtime.remoting><
application><
channels><
channel ref="tcp" port="2000" /></
channels></
application></
system.runtime.remoting></
configuration>
server code:
remotingconfiguration.configure("timesheetserver.exe.config", ensuresecurity);
reboot pc.
step through server.
above line returns "only 1 usage of each socket address (protocol/network address/port) permitted"
i've read blog - talks pooling when opening connections. haven't opened 1 yet, never mind many.
i ran netstat -aon. apart few other ip's, says tcp 0.0.0.0:2000 listening
running xp sp2 if makes difference.
i'll give 24 hours working, , i'm going msde2000. @ least worked.

the way see problem this:
i have told server express listen on port 1433.
so in server open channel on port 1433. after all, must use port server listening on.
server express says can't use port, becuase using it.
how else 1 write distributed app?
i think must pass problem remoting forum. seems more sort of problem.
note: have realised server should not use same port server express.
